When you really think about it, those three little words can have a lot of questions connected to them. “I’m a New Vaper, what flavors should I use?” “Where should I buy my liquid from?” “Why does this Vape employee keep asking what mix I want for my liquid?”

All valid questions!

I will begin with a fact that I love to point out… the best style of vaping comes down to an individual’s wants and needs. And that involves electronic cigarette liquid as well.

The Basics

So first you must understand what electronic cigarette liquid is mainly composed of: Vegetable Glycerin (VG) and Propylene Glycol (PG).

They are basically the ingredients in e liquid that allows for vapor to be produced when they are heated. Now both have their own significant usages, but differ in flavor and consistency.

Most electronic cigarette liquids produced have a mix between the two. However the basis for choosing the ratio of PG and VG is dependent on what kind of vaping style you are into. For example: those using an electronic cigarette as a real tobacco cigarette substitution may want an e liquid with a higher PG concentration. The more PG there is, the harder the throat hit will be, giving an almost exact replica of a “smoky” inhale. PG also tends to amplify the flavoring of your electronic cigarette liquid, which makes it an ideal liquid to use for standardized vape pens.

“So then why would people even consider using VG liquid as part of the mixture?”

Well while VG tends to give a more airy like and smooth hit than the PG, there are a ton of reasons why people prefer it. VG tends to have a thicker consistency which produces a “heavier” vapor. So for people who use sub ohm MODS to cloud chase, the VG mix is a much more suitable approach. The VG allows for a cloud like image of vapor to be produced without irritating the throat.

Given that you now know what PG and VG liquid both have to offer, you can make an educated decision on what mix and match combo is the best one for you. Some electronic cigarette liquid companies pre mix their own ratio as they know what compliments their flavors in the best way possible and some allow you to make your own mix if you so desire to try it.

My personal favorite mix is 80 PG and 20 VG as it compliments my Spartan clearomizer really well. I order my liquid from Electronic Cigarette USA, as this is the standardized mix they use, and all their flavors are really vibrant with the 80 PG while the 20 VG gives me a comfortable throat hit.

Okay we have the mix down… but now you want to know what flavors you should be doing. There are no flavors “you should be doing” especially with over 1000 electronic cigarette liquid flavors to choose from. Again it’s based off of your personal preferences!
